چکیده

The canonical boundary-value problem for the propagation of compound plasmon–polariton (CPP) waves, guided by a symmetric structure comprising metal film embedded in uniaxial dielectric material, was formulated and solved. In addition to unexceptional CPP waves whose field strength, decays exponentially with distance from nearest dielectric/metal interface, this can also guide exceptional fields, decay as product linear function an exponential interface. An explicit solution CPP-wave derived spatial profiles were computed. At most, two found propagate different directions within each quadrant interfacial plane. • A metal/dielectric plasmon-polariton has been

Optical guided waves at graded metal-dielectric interfaces.

Waveguides at interfaces with a linearly graded permittivity between a metal and a dielectric are studied. Analytic expressions for the dispersion relations, modes, losses, and cutoff wavelengths are derived and agree well with simulations. The gradation results in anomalous dispersion, a reduction in the energy velocity, and increased field confinement in the metal-dielectric transition region...

The Slab Waveguide 6.1 Guided Waves in a Metal Guide

It is now time to consider more effective guiding structures for electromagnetic waves. To introduce the basic ideas, we shall start with a very simple geometry, the metal-walled guide. Though this is not actually used at optical frequencies, it contains nearly all the features of more useful guides and can be analysed with little mathematics. The metalwalled guide consists of two plane mirrors...

Guided subwavelength plasmonic mode supported by a slot in a thin metal film.

We demonstrate the existence of a bound optical mode supported by a slot in a thin metallic film deposited on a substrate, with slot dimensions much smaller than the wavelength. The modal size is almost completely dominated by the near field of the slot. Consequently, the size is very small compared with the wavelength, even when the dispersion relation of the mode approaches the light line of ...

Metal/dielectric/metal sandwich film for broadband reflection reduction

A film comprising randomly distributed metal/dielectric/metal sandwich nanopillars with a distribution of cross-sectional diameters, displayed extremely low reflectance over the blue-to-red regime, when coated on glass and illuminated normally. When it is illuminated by normally incident light, this sandwich film (SWF) has a low extinction coefficient, its phase thickness is close to a negative...
